Shoonyam Samucchaye Sutra

This is an extension of the fifth meaning (type) discussed under 'simple equations'. By the application of the aforesaid formula, we get two simple equations which on solving yield the two values of x.

Example 1 :

           7x + 5  =  9x + 7
           9x - 5     7x + 17

    Here  N1 + N2 = D1 + D2 = 16x + 12
    Therefore   16x + 12 = 0    ==>    x  =  3/4

    N1 ~ D1  =  N2 ~ D2  =  2x - 10
    Therefore   2x - 10 = 0     ==>    x  =  5

2)   16x - 3   =    2x - 15
       7x + 7        11x - 25

      N1 + N2  =  D1 + D2  =  18x - 18
      18x - 18 = 0     ==>  x = 1

      N1 ~ D1  =  N2 ~ D2  =  9x - 10
      9x - 10 = 0      ==>  x = 10/9
